Not as straight forward to change as you might think. Basically half the machine needs to come apart gently to remove the pipe fitting to get at the seal. Not overly difficult but definitely fiddly

Water was leaking from around the bottom of the tank but it was actually the rubber seal that it connects into. Had to remove the screws and the tope and back of the machine. Then the housing around the seal. Replaced the seal and put all back together. No more leaks

7 screws need to be removed from the back of the unit and 2 under the front need group handle and grinder. Then the top pops off enabling you to remove the back plate that has the seal fitted via the underside. Pull the hose off the backing plate-seal housing, then 2 more screws hold the cover plate that retains the seal. Swap seals and reverse the process to put it back together.

To gain access to the safety valve the machine has to be dismantled. Ie. Remove the back cover which holds the water tank, remove the base supports, the hopper cover, etcetc this is not an easy fix - one would have to ask why the valve broke in the first place as the machine is only 3 years old

Removal and replacement of the safety valve involves removal of the pressure pump to fit the safety valve and then reinstall the pump with the valve fitted then connect the breather tube. I still had a leak from the top of the safety valve and found that the new o-ring had split so I retrieved the old o-ring from the broken safety valve and inserted it in the valve but was then unable to insert the tube retaining clip. I then removed the new tube and installed the old tube and the retaining clip fitted easily achieving a water tight fit. Note the screws into the back of the cast aluminium top cover bind and are quite difficult to remove I had to drill one out and replace it.

Difficult to repair - not recommended for the inexperienced. Maybe 2 hours plus to disassemble and reassemble. Remove top and back of machine to expose safety valve. High pressure lines from boiler held in place with a circlip release with tiny flat screwdriver.

The safety valve is screwed into the end of the pump. If the valve has snapped off you will have to unscrew the broken part out of the pump housing first. The trick is that you do not screw the new safety valve into the pump but hold the safety valve while screwing the pump housing to the safety valve. The pump housing must be loosened first to achieve rotation. Do this by loosening the 2 screws that secure the pump housing to the pump main body. Make sure you replace the orange o ring on the end of the pipe. The safety valve comes with a new pipe clips and o rings which makes the repair easy as all parts are generously supplied.

This was easy - the allen key required - is provided with the coffee machine. ***To prepare the machine turn it off and take the plug out from the socket I would recommend doing this job on the draining board of the sink. 1 - remove the water container. 2 - remove trays in lower areas of the machine so you have more space to access the group head more easily. 3 - secure the coffee grinder section with some sticky tape. 4 - carefully rest the machine on its back or partially using a smallish food container to rest it on. 5 - using the allen key provided carefully loosen and unscrew the central screw holding the metal retainer and washer in place within the group head. *If its very tight dont force it * some fine engine oil or lubricant will help loosen it up applied with a cotton bud. Give it a few minuted to work - you could help it with an old soft tooth brush. 6 - unscrew the unit gently ease away the steel metal basket holding the washer in place this will be a tight fit (put the screw and basket somewhere safe )- gently remove the old washer which could be quite stuck in place after being used every day for years it will probably be broken hence the problem. 7 - clean all the components you have removed the area of the machine and then carefully ease your new washer back onto the machine group head the metal basket to hold it in place and carefully screw into place - *** dont tighten up the crew too much. Note * if you look after your machine you will probably be needing to do this again in the future so too tight will mean you could wreck the allen shape of the screw head and never get it out again mine is now working perfectly and ive saved my self about 100. Note - you may have to re-set the timing of the machine mine was expressing too much water per cup after doing this procedure however following the guide in the book its now working perfectly.

First - switch off machine- empty the machine of all water - tank and trays. Turn machine on its flat side and using the allen key which comes with the machine undo the central screw holding the steel basket in place over the cream gasket. The steel basket can then be carefully removed as well as the the damaged gasket. Clean the area carefully and replace with new gasket pushing it carefully into place. Replace the steel basket cover and carefully screw back into place- do not over tighten - check that its all secure and turn the machine upright again. Fill with water - replace trays and its ready to use.

Remove old rubber using a sharp knife cutting lightly into the rubber being careful not to score the stainless steel steam wand. Peel the old rubber away. Clean the wand using a scouring pad and water then wipe dry. Being careful to have the new rubber the right way around push the preformed rubber onto the wand. Work the rubber onto the wand by partially rotating back and forth as you push upwards. Push the rubber up to the point of the natural bend in the steam wand pipe.

I have had past experience servicing coffee machines so it was pretty straightforward. The only problem I have is wanting to get inside this machine to give it a thorough clean out. I have been advised by breville that I have to take it to an electrical servicing company as they have a special tool to gain access.....I was not impressed with that news as I like to do the service myself.
